Visit Gembira Loka Zoo

Holiday Ayo - If you want to take your children on vacation, then there are several recommended places for you. One of them is Gembira Loka Zoo.
It is an educational tourist destination in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. The zoo was damaged due to the earthquake that hit Yogyakarta in 2006. But it has been renovated and continues to be quite popular among tourists.
Gembira Loka Zoo stands on 20 hectare land. It houses various species of animals from all over the world, like orangutans, Sumatran elephants, chimpanzees, black bears, camels, Sumatran tigers, hippopotamus, Javanese leopards, beavers, Brazilian tapirs, and many others. There are all kinds of animals that people can study. You can read the descriptions of the animals in each cage.
Gembira Loka Zoo also has several other attractions. Tourists can ride on speedboat, ship, or train, or do many kinds of sports here, like jogging and Zumba gymnastic.
There is a bicycle rental service called Zoopeda, although it is only open during the weekends. You can rent a bicycle to explore the whole area through the available biking path. Or you can bring your own bicycle into the area. If you take your own bicycle, the fee is 75 thousand Rupiah and if you rent one from Zoopeda, the fee is 100 thousand Rupiah.
Gembira Loka Zoo is open every day except Friday. The operational hours are divided into different categories. For sports visits, it starts from 06.00 a.m. and ends at 08.00 a.m. local time.
The public tourism visit is from 09.00 a.m. to 03.00 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, and from 08.30 a.m. to 04.00 p.m. for Saturday and Sunday.
The entrance ticket to Gembira Loka Zoo is divided into weekdays and weekend categories. On weekdays, it is priced at 60 thousand Rupiah per person. On weekends, it is priced at 75 thousand Rupiah. The ticket has already included train and ship riding. Children with a height under 80 cm do not require an entrance ticket.
Gembira Loka Zoo is located at Kebun Raya Street, Rejowinangun, Kotagede District, Yogyakarta City, Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. You can go there in personal vehicles from Solo, Klaten, or Yogyakarta. Or you can take public transportation like a train or bus from Yogyakarta.
