Holiday Ayo - White Crater is the most famous tourist spot in Bandung. Located in Ciwidey, West Java, approximately 50 KM south of Bandung, White Crater is a lake formed from the eruption of Mount Patuha.

After the eruption, many people assumed that this location was a haunted area because every bird that flew through the area would die.

Over time, beliefs about the haunted place began to fade, until finally in 1837 a German botanist came to the area to conduct research.

A researcher named Dr. Franz Wilhelm Junghuhn was so intrigued by the deserted mountain areas that he went around the village in search of information. Back then, all the information he had was that the area was haunted and inhabited by spirits.

For Dr. Franz Wilhelm Junghuhn, the local community's statement does not make sense. Then, he went into the forest to find out what was there. Finally, Dr. Franz Wilhelm Junghuhn managed to reach the top of the mountain, and from there he saw a beautiful white lake with a strong smell of sulfur.

Since then, the existence of Ciwidey White Crater became famous, and starting in 1987, the government developed the area as a tourist spot that offers a unique experience of seeing a lake that can change color.

As the name implies, the soil in this area is white as a result of mixing sulfur elements. In addition to the white soil, the lake water in the White Creater area also has a greenish white color and can change color according to the sulfur content, temperature, and weather.

Ciwidey White Crater, which is dominated by white, is perfect for tourists who like to hunt for Instagramable photo spots. Its beautiful natural panorama attracts tourists, especially young couples to capture the moment.



The crater background and exotic nature add to the natural impression of the photo. This tourist destination was also popularized as a shooting location for the film Heart in 2006 ago. This location is also often used for pre-wedding photo locations.

One of the interesting photo spots is the Sunan Ibu sunrise viewing point. This spot is one of the attractions for tourists, especially photography lovers to hunt sunrise.



Not only that, there are several choices of hot springs around this white crater. This hot water comes from geothermal. In fact, occasionally you will find the smell of sulfur. Some residents think that the sulfur content of the water is good for skin health.

Ciwidey White Creater is open every day with operating hours from 07 am to 5 pm, local time.

The entrance ticket price for visitors is divided into 3, namely domestic tourists, foreign tourists, and tourists who bring groups. Here are the details:

For domestic tourists, the ticket price is IDR 25.000,-
While for foreign tourists IDR 75.000,-
And for those who bring a group, the tariff is IDR 150.000,- per car, not including the entrance ticket per person.

How to Get to the Ciwidey White Crater

The location of the White Crater Bandung is on Raya Soreang Ciwidey Street, Ciwidey, Bandung, West Java, about 50km from the city of Bandung. This means, if you stay in the center of Bandung, it may take you about 1.5 hours to get to this tourist location.
