Holiday Ayo - As a Drama and Movie lover? where do you usually watch your favorite movie? Cited from CNN Indonesia, from the results of the Nielsen Streaming Content Ratings survey or measurement of cross-media video viewers for linear TV and mobile streaming, released by Nielsen Indonesia, Thursday (8/12) that Free streaming platforms beat subscription-based platforms like Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar in terms of viewership.

Nielsen embedded the mobile meters app on the mobile devices of 3,700 individuals in 11 major cities to calculate this rating. In addition, Nielsen has also embedded a peoplemeter tool on 11,500 TVs to capture TV viewing habits as part of calculating Streaming Content Ratings.

From the list of streaming platforms counted, Nielsen divided them into two categories, namely Advertising Supported Video On Demand (AVOD) or free streaming platforms such as Vidio, RCTI+, Vision+, iQiyi, and Viu. Meanwhile, Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) is like Netflix and Disney+ Hotstar.

"There are various types of OTT, namely AVOD and SVOD. AVOD is OTT which lives from advertisements, such as Vidio, RCTI+, for SVOD you have to pay," explained Hellen.

cited from CNN Indonesia, According to Nielsen data, from the total individuals who were sampled, AVOD viewing reached 5.9 percent, while SVOD was only 3.1 percent.

Interestingly, this paid platform model still outperforms AVOD or free platforms in terms of total watch time.

"AVOD has twice the number of subscriptions, but viewing is higher than SVOD [in terms of] viewing time," he said.

"[SVOD] has longer content, if he pays monthly he loses [so] he has to take advantage of it. SVOD is predominantly high-end, maybe he doesn't think about buying phone credit for streaming, maybe it's supported by WiFi or broadband at his home," he added.

However, SVOD watch time is noticeably higher with a total watch time of 443 hours per month, compared to AVOD's only 348 hours per month.

Furthermore, Streaming Content Ratings is said to be able to provide insight into platforms and channels that are broadcast via mobile devices and broadcast via linear TV ratings, including audience reach, time spent, and demographic profiles covering 11 major cities in Indonesia.
