However, before buying premium economy train tickets for your trip, it's a good idea to know the difference between Premium Economy Trains and Economy Trains to imagine the comfort. 

Differences between Economy Trains and Premium Economy Trains Economy trains and premium economy trains are two classes of trains provided by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KAI to serve long-distance travel.

If you often take economy class trains, you will know that the seating formation is 2-2 and 3-3 with passengers facing each other in one carriage. 

Usually this formation is easy to find on local and long-distance economy class trains. Economy class has the largest seat capacity, namely 106 seats.

Different from premium economy class trains. This class is the embodiment of the refinement of the new face of the economy class. 

The formation in one carriage is 2-2, but some are in the opposite direction to the train's speed, others are in line with the train's lane. Luckily, you as a user or passenger will not face each other. 

Different Chair Backrests 

It is very clear that economy class seats have straight backs. For those of you who are economy class train users/passengers, you must have experienced this. 

Maybe, for short trips, of course this is not a problem, but it will be a problem for those of you who travel long distances. 

Not to mention, economy class train seats do not have arm rests for those sitting in the middle in a 3-3 seat formation. 

The good news is that for premium economy class trains, the seat backs are comfortable. This is because there are reclining seat and arm rest facilities. 

So, the chair can be adjusted to lie down with a tilt level that can be adjusted to your comfort, with armrests that make it comfortable. 

One more thing, because they are not facing each other, the feet are more comfortable and don't get sore easily. But this does not apply to the 3-3 seat formation in the middle.

Different Prices 

Economy class trains are of course different in terms of price and facilities from premium economy class trains. For short and long distance economy class trains, it ranges from tens of thousands to a maximum of one hundred thousand. 

In contrast to premium economy class trains, the price ranges from 200 thousand to 400 thousand. This also affects the facilities inside. 

Even though there are still air conditioning facilities, a small table for placing drinks, a plug, a cabin and a toilet, if you buy a premium economy class train ticket, you will get additional facilities in the form of a TV and rolling blinds in each carriage. 

Rolling blinds are of course important for those of you who don't like the glare of the sun, but still want to enjoy the panorama while traveling. 

There is a replacement for rolling blinds on economy class trains, but they are cloth blinds.
