Indonesian National Team Now Has 5 Goalkeepers, Reza Arya Receives Surprise Call-Up from Kluivert

Holiday Ayo - PSM Makassar goalkeeper Reza Arya Pratama has received a surprise call-up to the Indonesian national team. Arya's call-up was purely Patrick Kluivert's choice.

This news means that the Indonesian national team squad for the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Asian Qualifiers now has five goalkeepers.

This confirmation was confirmed by PSM Makassar Media Officer, Sulaiman Karim, who stated that Reza Arya had departed for Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Friday (October 3) morning.

"Yes, that's right [Reza Arya has been called up by the Indonesian national team]. Reza has left for Saudi Arabia. It seems like he's going straight to Saudi Arabia. We received the summons last night," said Sulaiman, as reported by CNNIndonesia.com, Friday morning.

Reza Arya is the fifth goalkeeper called up by Kluivert to the Indonesian national team squad for their matches against Saudi Arabia and Iraq in the fourth round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.

Initially, Kluivert called up three goalkeepers: Maarten Paes, Emil Audero Mulyadi, and Ernando Ari Sutaryadi.

The Dutch coach then added another goalkeeper, Nadeo Argawinata.

"Next, including Nadeo, yes. Maybe many of you have asked about Nadeo. Nadeo is also leaving, but because we only called him last night [Wednesday], and the flights couldn't be at the same time, Nadeo will be leaving at 3 p.m.," said Sumardji at Soekarno-Hatta Airport ahead of the Indonesian national team's departure for Jeddah on Thursday (October 2).

Reza Arya's presence is expected to bolster the Indonesian national team's goalkeeping strength, which is currently experiencing a fitness crisis.

Currently, Emil Audero's participation in the matches against Saudi Arabia and Iraq remains a question mark.

The goalkeeper for Serie A club Cremonese suffered a calf muscle injury ahead of last weekend's match against Como.

Sumardji previously stated that Emil Audero's condition was being monitored and confirmed that the Juventus goalkeeper was still scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia.

Meanwhile, Maarten Paes has been able to train after a long injury layoff since last July.
