Kylafood's Success, From a Snacking Hobby to a Promising Business

Holiday Ayo - Business ideas often come according to a person's habits. At least this is experienced by a young man from Bandung named Galih Ruslan who has successfully created a culinary business called Kylafood.

Launching idntimes.com, Kylafood is short for Shakyla Foodstore which was founded by Galih and his wife in 2017.

It started from the hobby of Galih and his wife who often hunted various street food and uploaded them on social media. The post attracted the attention of many of Galih's friends and family and asked him about the food he consumed.

"This story was the beginning of the idea of establishing Shakyla Foodstore with the aim of introducing West Java special snacks that are packaged instantly so that people can buy them anywhere," said Galih some time ago.

Like entrepreneurs at the beginning of his business, Galih did not sell in expensive and spacious places, but in an empty area of his own house, namely in the garage.

"In 2017, we started a business selling in an empty area in their garage with five employees," he said.

Meanwhile, the marketing strategy used by Galih is through social media and using chat features or systems.

Galih continued, when he started the Kylafood business for the first time, there was little competition in the food industry, especially traditional snacks such as seblak and batagor.

However, with the development of existing trends, especially in the sale of instant traditional snacks, the competition is slowly getting tougher.

This did not dampen Galih's business spirit and it is proven that at this time Kylafood is the market leader in the category of instant traditional snacks.

"Starting from Bandung's culinary specialties, we are currently issuing various series of traditional culinary products, including seblak, cireng rujak seasoning, batagor, shake noodles, cimol, tektek noodles, baso aci, and others," said Galih.

Kylafood's achievement as a market leader cannot be separated from Galih's efforts to continue to maintain the consistency of the quality of the products sold. For him, maintaining quality is one of the basics to continue to maintain business development.

Therefore, Galih started training to implement standard operating procedures (SOP) for his employees.
