Getting to Know the Owner of Indomaret, Minimarket Outlets Throughout Indonesia

Holiday Ayo - As one of the successful and well-known retail chain companies in Indonesia, many people are curious about who owns Indomaret.
Whoever he is, he must be someone with great wealth. The owner of Indomaret is the Salim Group.
With the slogan "Easy and Economical", Indomaret can be easily found not only in urban areas but also in remote villages.
Until now, Indomaret has tens of thousands of outlets in various regions in Indonesia, both company-owned and outlets in the form of partnerships. Indomaret adopts a franchise retail business model and direct ownership.
Until now, more than 60 percent of its outlets are the result of franchise cooperation with the general public. Indomaret's first store itself was opened in 1988.
Initially, Indomaret was only intended as an internal retail store serving Salim Group employees.
However, due to the positive response and large market demand, the company then opened its minimarket network to the public in 1997.
The company that owns Indomaret, the Salim Group, is the owner of Indomaret through PT Indoritel Makmur Sentosa Tbk with the issuer code DNET, formerly known as PT Dyviacom Intrabum, a company founded in 1995 and initially only engaged in the internet service business.
After being acquired by the Salim Group in 2013, DNET then spread its wings by investing in the retail store and food product sectors. The company name was also changed to match its new business.
After the death of Sudono Salim or Liem Sioe Liong, the leadership of the Salim Group was continued by his son, Anthoni Salim.
PT Indoritel Makmur Sentosa Tbk is a company that is the dominant shareholder in the Sari Roti bread producing company, the KFC fast food chicken restaurant chain, Taco Bell, and the Indomaret minimarket chain.
However, DNET did not leave its previous main business line, namely internet service providers. This company is the shareholder of PT Mega Akses Persada which provides FiberStar internet.
As the owner of Indomaret, the Salim Group does not directly control its minimarket franchise network through PT Indoritel Makmur Sentosa Tbk, but through its subsidiary PT Indomarco Prismatama.
PT Indomarco Prismatama is the one that expands the Indomaret network through a franchise system.
Indomaret offers a franchise cooperation scheme for Indomaret outlets with an investment of around IDR 494 million.
The investment costs include a franchise fee for 5 years of IDR 36 million, a store opening promotion of IDR 9.5 million, renovation and addition of electricity of IDR 221.5 million, and procurement of electronic and non-electronic equipment of IDR 227 million.
Investment costs can be more expensive or cheaper depending on the type of store and the shape of the building. So now you know who owns Indomaret, right?
