Food and Beverage Business in Bali Explodes Ahead of the G20 Summit

Holiday Ayo - The Food & Beverage business in Bali continues to improve entering the fourth quarter of 2022. Likewise, tourist visits continue to increase, although it is not fully normal as before the COVID-19 pandemic hit.
Tourist arrivals have a positive impact on the cafe and restaurant business, especially ahead of the G20 Summit.
As cited from money.kompas.com, Chairman of the Indonesian Tourism Industry Association (GIPI) Bali Ida Bagus Agung Partha Adnyana said the daily turnover of cafes and restaurants, especially in South Bali, is starting to grow.
"It is estimated that cafes, restaurants and beach clubs around South Bali alone can earn a turnover from IDR 3 million to IDR 1 billion per day (beach club). Making the restaurant and cafe business grow more than 100 percent," he said, quoted Friday (11/4).
Adnyana gave an example in the Seminyak and Canggu areas, economic activity has returned to normal as it was before the pandemic.
"If the owners of capital have dared to open a restaurant to a cafe, it means they already believe, Bali has risen," he added.
Meanwhile, the owner of Siadja Gallery, Tanamas Villas and Ocin Gede restaurant Dananjaya Siadja explained, the occupancy rate of hotel rooms and villas is also felt to continue to improve. Orders for villas and restaurants in the Ubud area have increased since August.
"For us, usually November is a dead month, but with the G20, it is a blessing for us," he said.
However, Chairman of the Bali Tourism Village Communication Forum I Made Mendra Astawa said the increase in the restaurant and cafe business had an impact on increasing demand for agricultural products such as various fruits and vegetables. However, due to high rainfall, the harvest from Bali is not optimal.
"In order to meet the large demand, additional supplies are taken from Java," he said.
Based on data from Bank Indonesia (BI), the economy of Bali Province is supported by the accommodation, food and beverage sector, including the hotel and restaurant business.
The Head of the BI Representative for the Province of Bali, Trisno Nugroho, said that the G20 2022 presidency has had a positive impact on the Bali economy since January. Many G20 meetings are held on the island of the gods, including the peak of the G20 summit in mid-November.
"The G20 became the main driver for the rise of Bali, when the pandemic occurred there were many businesses that closed including restaurants and cafes because there were no buyers, so they had to reduce their costs," concluded Trisno.
