Counterfeit Goods Make the State Lose IDR 291 Trillion

Holiday Ayo - The circulation of counterfeit and unofficial goods, ranging from fashion products, cosmetics, to gadgets is said to cause economic losses of up to IDR 291 trillion.
This was revealed by a study from the Indonesian Anti-counterfeiting Society (MIAP) and the Institute for Economic Analysis of Law & Policy at Pelita Harapan University (IEALP UPH) regarding the impact of counterfeiting on the Indonesian economy.
The state losses consist of tax losses amounting to IDR 967 billion, and potential job losses of more than 2 million.
As cited from tribunnews.com, General Chairperson of the Indonesian E-commerce Association (idEA), Bima Laga explained that his party often conducts education related to product exposure that is in accordance with its original condition. This is at the same time maintaining the level of customer trust so that they are satisfied in the transaction.
Bima expressed his appreciation for the sellers who had followed all the rules well.
"Never stop being honest in running a business and selling genuine products," he said, Monday (19/9).
Regarding electronic products, separately the Chairman of DPD DKI Jakarta - National Information and Communication Technology Entrepreneurs Association (APTIKNAS) Fanky Christian explained, basically APTIKNAS supports all electronic products that enter Indonesia according to existing regulations.
He said that large and small sellers must compete in a healthy manner through an official import mechanism.
"For sellers, both online and offline, who represent authorized distributors or importers, the emphasis is on following existing regulations and then providing technical support," said Fanky.
Fanky explained that the technical support in question is a service center in the territory of Indonesia, where to check whether a product is official or not, it can be seen through the serial number and IMEI number.
“How official and unofficial can be known. For example, Apple has a serial number and IMEI that can be checked on Apple's platform, so you can know whether it's official or not," explained Fanky.
Currently, e-commerce is gradually adding electronic official stores on its platform to provide the best customer service (service excellence) and prevent counterfeiting of electronic products.
The addition of an official store that sells original electronic products in e-commerce is expected to have a domino effect on the national economy because it can minimize product counterfeiting.
