The Historich, the Historical Tourist Destination in Cimahi

Holiday Ayo - Cited from nativeindonesia.com, the Historich is a historical building in Cimahi City, Indonesia. It has been standing since the Dutch colonialization era, and its function and name change through the years. Today, it is mostly used as an art building.
The Historich is located at Station Baros Street, Central Cimahi District, Cimahi City, West Java Province, Indonesia.
It can be accessed with both two-wheeled vehicles and four-wheeled vehicles. If you want to go there by public transportation, then you should take a train ride to the railway station of Baros Subdistrict in Cimahi. The building is only 700 meters away from the station.
The Historich does not have an entrance fee.
It is open to the public every day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m, local time. The place has a parking area, great hall, outdoor area, and even a stage to hold art performances.
The Historich was built around 1886, the same time as two other historical buildings in Cimahi, the Poncol Prison and the Dustira Hospital. Back then, it was named Societeit Voor Officieren – Cimahi. It functioned as a place to hold parties and art or dance performances for the Dutch colonizers. When Indonesia gained its independence, the building’s name changed into Pradjoerit Soedirman Hall or just Sudirman Building.
After that, the functions and names of The Historich kept changing. It was once used as the office of the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD) of Cimahi. It was also used as a badminton training center once. Until it was rented to a private party and the name is changed to The Historich until today.
Many people come to The Historich to learn more about the history of Cimahi during the colonialization era of Indonesia. They also come to admire the architecture of this classic but majestic European building. Many come here to take pictures as well.
These days, the Historich is used as a place to hold several events, mostly anything related to art, culture, and history.
In fact, the citizens can even rent the building to hold a wedding. It is also frequented by students for the study tours.
