Holiday Ayo - Deputy Minister of SOEs Kartika Wirjoatmodjo said that SOEs had carried out digital transformation in business processes. This digital transformation not only improves performance, but also develops the digital economy. Moreover, Indonesia has the potential to become the country with the largest digital economy in Southeast Asia. With the digital economy projected to grow to IDR 4,500 trillion in 2030.

"In the banking sector, we are innovating through Livin' by Mandiri, a super app that is not only for banking transactions but also for buying airline tickets, booking hotels, trains and others. Indonesia can create a digital ecosystem through the super app. In this regard, we can say that we are more advanced than other countries," Kartika said at the SOE International Conference, Monday (17/10/2022).

According to Kartika, through digitalization, the ecosystem will move faster. For example in banking, by making transactions using applications, it will move exponentially. Both from the customer side, and from the company side itself.

“Infrastructure is important, but digital apps are the center of all bank activities. This is interesting, because Indonesia as a developing country adopts so fast, when compared to other advances. Indonesia uses gadgets and is very adapted to social media. So I think, Indonesia is a country that is carrying out a revolution naturally,” explained Kartika.

Kartika said Indonesia is a country that is fast in adopting digital during the pandemic. Currently, more and more Indonesians are accustomed to using smartphones and also shopping in e-commerce.

"We have seen Telkom's efforts to build BTS in remote areas as an effort to open telecommunication access. This is an investment in the back end sector. This of course aims to create a digital ecosystem that is more evenly distributed throughout Indonesia," he said.

Kartika added that Telkom is also implementing digital adoption during the pandemic by creating the PeduliLindung application. This application can track people who are positive for Covid-19 and has proven to be very effective. The digital adoption carried out by Telkom with PeduliLindung and Mandiri with Livin' is part of the transformation of SOEs and must be imitated by other SOEs to continue to grow.
