This plastic product is asked to limit its import to Indonesia

Holiday Ayo - Plastic packaging entrepreneurs who are members of the Indonesian Biaxially Oriented Films Association (ABOFI) stated that they support Minister of Trade Regulation 36 of 2023 concerning Import Policies and Regulations.

ABOFI assesses that this regulation protects and prioritizes domestically produced commodities to be hosted in their own country, and can even increase added value through downstreaming.

However, ABOFI Chairman Santoso Samudera believes that there is something that needs to be supplemented by Minister of Trade Regulation 36 of 2023.

This is the need to strengthen and expand objects whose imports are restricted to reach downstream industries.

This is because many downstream flexible packaging industry producers in Indonesia are experiencing tremendous pressure from imported products.

“We see the need for Minister of Trade Regulation 36 of 2023 to be strengthened and expanded to reach the downstream industry, especially the downstream flexible packaging industry which is experiencing tremendous pressure from imported products," said Santoso in his statement, Friday (23/2).

ABOFI, said Santoso, has submitted a request and data to the Government of the Republic of Indonesia through the Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Trade and Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs so that several products are included in the restriction policy as well.

For example, BOPP Film products with HS Code 3920.20.10, 3920.20.90, and 3920.20.99. As well as BOPET Film products with HS Code 3920.62.10, 3920.62.90, and 3920.62.99.

Santoso requested that these products be upgraded to limited prohibition status in Minister of Trade Regulation Number 36/2023.

Starting from the initial form of LARTAS LS (Surveyor's Report) to LARTAS LS&PI (Surveyor's Report & Import Approval).

Apart from that, his party also asked for the imposition of BMAD (Anti-Dumping Import Duty) on imported products that come in and have been proven to use dumping prices according to the results of the investigation by the Indonesian Anti-Dumping Committee.
