Holiday Ayo - The State Electricity Company (PLN) invites millennials to actively support energy transition efforts to achieve the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target by 2060.

As cited from Republika.co.id, PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said, in the energy transition process, new national capacity and technical capabilities are very important.

"If we can build national capacity, then this energy transition can accelerate economic growth, create jobs to build the nation's future in Indonesia and it's on the shoulders of the students here," said Darmawan at the #DemiIndonesia event.

In this case, PLN is committed to realizing the construction of electricity infrastructure in accordance with the 2021-2030 Electric Power Supply Business Plan (RUPTL). It is expected that there will be additional new renewable energy (EBT) of 20.9 gigawatts (GW) or 51.6 percent of the total additional power plants. PLN also confirmed that it would not build a new steam power plant (PLTU).

Darmawan admits that the effort to build a NRE-based power plant is not easy. But he believes, with the help and creative minds of the millennial generation, Darmawan believes this challenge can be solved.

"If renewable energy is intermittent, it requires batteries. For example, wind power, if the wind is strong, it rotates fast, it produces a lot of electricity. Solar energy is best only from 10 to 12 hours. That's why we need batteries. This innovation is not carried out by the generation who 50-60 years old, this innovation is carried out by the millennial generation," explained Darmawan.

In addition, PLN also encourages the use of electric motorized vehicles in Indonesia to reduce carbon emissions in the transportation sector. This support is carried out by presenting a collaboration program or infrastructure franchise for the Public Electric Vehicle Charging Station (SPKLU) and the General Electric Vehicle Battery Exchange Station (SPBKLU).

PLN is also making a transformation in the service sector. Through the New PLN Mobile application, service to customers is now getting better.

"We will simplify all the complicated processes. God willing, the process will be much faster," said Darmawan.
