Gyeongbokgung (gung means palace) is a major royal palace dating back to the Joseon Dynasty. With Gwanghwamun as its main gate, this palace is the largest of the five palaces built during the same dynasty.

The architectural plan of Gyeongbokgung includes many gates, courts, pavilions, bridges, and other structures within the building. Naturally, its historical, cultural and tourist values make it a favorite place in drama, namely historical drama.
