Jokowi Encourages Cooperation between Indonesian State-Owned Enterprises and France
Holiday Ayo - President Joko Widodo held a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the Grand Prince Hotel, Hiroshima, Japan, on Sunday, May 21 2023.
During the meeting, the two discussed a lot about economic cooperation between the two countries, some of which involved BUMN.
Jokowi discussed strategic sector investments from France in Indonesia. He welcomed the participation of French companies in Indonesia's downstream projects and French assistance through The Agence Française de Développement (AFD) of 500 million Euros and the Just Energy Transition Partnership.
He also saw the need to push for a follow-up to the Hydrogene de France (HDF) collaboration with PT Bukit Asam for hydrogen-based technology. There is also cooperation between the Center de coopération internationale en recherche agronomyque pour le développement (CIRAD) with the Indonesian Blue Foundation for sustainable development.
"Indonesia is also open to investment to build the Archipelago's capital in the fields of infrastructure, green energy and ecotourism. We have prepared investment incentives and facilities," Jokowi said as quoted from finance.detik.com, Sunday (21/5).
Meanwhile, in the field of defense and the main weapon system (alutsista), Jokowi welcomed the plan to create a joint venture between PT Len Industri and Thales.
"Let's continue to push for technology transfer, knowledge transfer and joint production," Jokowi continued.
Jokowi also asked for French support for Indonesia's membership in the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). According to him, Indonesia is the only G20 country that is not included in the FATF.
Jokowi also did not forget to ask for Macron's support so that the Indonesia-EU Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IUE-CEPA) trade agreement could be completed soon next year.
