In 2050, Indonesia is predicted to be the 4th largest economy in the world

Holiday Ayo - An American multinational investment banking and financial services company, Goldman Sachs, predicts a shift in the sources of world economic growth in 2050 to 2075.

Indonesia is predicted to be included in the list of countries with the largest economy in the world in 2050. The prediction was published on December 6, 2022.

Goldman Sachs said Indonesia was predicted to enter fourth place after China, the United States (US) and India. While in fifth place or below Indonesia is Germany.

"In 2050, our projection is that the world's five largest economies will be China, the United States, India, Indonesia and Germany," wrote Goldman Sachs Economic Research, Thursday (27/7).

Unfortunately, the report does not explain in detail why Indonesia could enter as the world's largest economy in 2050. Goldman Sachs only revealed that world economic growth will shift towards Asia and this condition will last until 2075.

"GDP will shift (even) more toward Asia over the next 30 years," the report continued.

Based on the table presented by the Goldman Sachs report, in 2022 alone Indonesia will not be included in the list of the world's 15 largest economies. While the names of the US, Japan, Germany, India are always there. Even for the US, Japan, China and India have entered the largest economic countries since 1980 and 2000.

Then in 2050, Indonesia is predicted to become the fourth country in the world with the largest economy, beating Germany, Britain, Brazil, France and Canada.

Meanwhile, Japanese names that were always in the top five shifted to the top 10. In fact, it is projected that Japan's position will decrease to 13th in 2075.

It is said that the list of the top five largest economic countries in 2050 will last until 2075. Only the order of the top five has changed, in which India is predicted to be in second place to replace the US which has dropped to third.

Then at number five it also changes, Nigeria is predicted to become the fifth largest economy. While Germany dropped to 9th place.

"Projections to 2075, the prospects for rapid population growth in countries such as Nigeria, Pakistan and Egypt illustrate that with the right policies and institutions these economies could become one of the largest in the world," explained the Goldman Sachs report.
