To rent a hotel room, guests must show their KTP as a basic rule for hotels in Indonesia. However, quite a few people forget to bring it. If that's the case, can you still check-in without an ID card? 

KTP is a document showing personal identity that is needed if guests want to book and check in to a hotel. This is necessary to match the personal data submitted with the guests who come. 

The need for KTP documents for hotel check-in is primarily for the following four reasons. 

1. Data Collection Needs 

The hotel requires an ID card to record guest identity. With this official identity, hotels can analyze business from the profiling of incoming guests. 

2. Confirmation of Arrival 

When you come to check-in, the hotel will confirm personal data between the person who made the reservation and the guest who arrives. 

This ID card is used as proof that the person who booked and the person staying is the same person. 

3. Avoid Fraud 

There is the potential for fraud when guests arrive who do not match the person who ordered. For this reason, adapting to KTP identity proof is important. 

4. Security 

The need to record the guest's identity is also needed if something undesirable happens related to the guest. The recorded identity can help further searches. 

Then, if you forget to bring your KTP, can you still check-in at the hotel you have booked? Even though it is mandatory, there are actually other alternatives that can be used if the worst case scenario is that the guest does not bring an ID card. 

Guests can use other identification documents, such as a driver's license or other documents that clearly show a photo and identity. 

Especially for foreign guests, they can use their passport as a form of identity. Meanwhile, for guests who are married and forgot to bring their KTP, they can show the original marriage book or a photocopy.
