Banking Services Confirmed to Operate in the Nusantara Capital City in Early 2026

Holiday Ayo - The investment progress in the banking services sector continues to be accelerated by the Indonesian Capital City Authority (IKN). 

This time the IKN Authority held a meeting with a number of banking investors on Friday (17/1).

 

Investors who attended included Bank Rakyat Indonesia (BRI), Bank Mandiri, Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI), Bankaltimtara, Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN), and Bank Central Asia (BCA). 

 

According to the Head of the IKN Authority, Basuki Hadimuljono, this meeting aims to accelerate the construction of banking service offices that will operate in the Central Government Core Area (KIPP), Nusantara.

 

"Accelerating the development of banking services in IKN is a priority to complete the ecosystem needed by residents who will move to the archipelago," said Basuki as reported by the IKN Authority press release, Sunday (19/1).

 

"This banking services office is targeted to start operating in the first quarter of 2026, in order to encourage fast and efficient banking services, according to the needs of IKN residents," he said.

 

Basuki continued, the facilities and infrastructure at IKN continue to be prepared by the government Subianto said that executive, legislative and judicial activities at IKN will start in 2028.

 

In addition, starting January 2025, the IKN Authority will map locations to start road construction.

 

Basuki also explained that President Prabowo Subianto had conveyed at the G20 international forum the certainty of moving the Indonesian capital to IKN. 

 

The President and DPR have also confirmed the status of Jakarta which is no longer a Special Capital Region (DKI) but a Special Region (DK). 

 

Basuki has also confirmed that President Prabowo will start his office at IKN on August 17 2028. 

 

“It will be an important historical milestone in the implementation of the government of the Republic of Indonesia in IKN," said Basuki. 

 

He also hopes that this meeting to discuss the progress of preparation of banking services at IKN can accelerate the realization of banking sector investment in IKN. 

 

“As well as creating an inclusive economic ecosystem for the development of a modern National Capital," added Basuki.
