A Campus in Mourning: Udayana University Holds Tearful Vigil for TAS

Udayana University (Unud) held a solemn prayer gathering and memorial to honor TAS, a student from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) who tragically passed away after falling from a campus building.
The emotional ceremony took place at Unud’s Sudirman Campus in Denpasar on Friday evening (October 17, 2025), around 7:00 p.m. WITA. The atmosphere was filled with grief as students from various faculties, lecturers, and alumni — all dressed in black — gathered while holding flowers and candles as a final tribute.
I Made Anom Wiranata, Vice Dean III of FISIP Unud, said the event was a moment to strengthen solidarity and offer prayers for the late student and his family.
“This is a time for all of us to strengthen our sense of unity as one Unud family. We pray that TAS finds peace and that his family is granted strength,” he stated.
Anom also remembered TAS as an outstanding and kind-hearted student.
“His GPA was 3.91 — well above average. I also heard he participated in research with senior students. He was known to be diligent; whenever he saw a messy classroom, he would tidy it up immediately,” Anom recalled.
Among those attending were TAS’s close friend Deon and his mother. Deon described TAS as a warm and humble individual.
“He was very humane, polite, and always smiling. Anyone who met him would be greeted first,” Deon said.
The vigil served as a heartfelt farewell from the entire Udayana University academic community, honoring a bright, compassionate student whose presence left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
