15 Countries That Allow Citizens to Visit Indonesia Visa-Free

Holiday Ayo - Not many countries have visa-free entry for their citizens. This is because in June 2023, the government discontinued visa-free entry for 159 countries.

Based on Presidential Regulation Number 95 of 2024, only 13 countries or destinations permitted citizens to enter Indonesia without a visa or under the Visa-Free Visit (BVK) policy.

However, recently, starting July 3, 2025, the Indonesian government introduced a policy to include two countries whose citizens can enter Indonesia visa-free: Türkiye and Brazil.

The addition of these two countries brings the number of countries or territories whose citizens can enter Indonesia visa-free to 15.

"Visa-free visits can be granted to certain countries based on the results of ongoing evaluations, which we coordinate with relevant agencies. The main consideration underlying the granting of visa-free visits to Brazil and Turkey is that these two countries have previously granted visas to Indonesian citizens," explained Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, as reported on the official Immigration website.

The enactment of Permenimipas No. 9/2025 is based on Presidential Regulation (Perpres) No. 95 of 2024. Article 2 Paragraph (3) of the Perpres states that visa-free visits are granted based on the principles of reciprocity and benefit, national security, tourism, the economy, and investment.

Yuldi added that the validity period of a visa-free visit is a maximum of 30 (thirty) days and cannot be extended or transferred to another type of residence permit.

Foreign nationals holding a Visa-Free Entry Permit (BVK) can use their stay permit in Indonesia for tourism, business meetings, and medical treatment.

"We implement the BVK selectively. The Directorate General of Immigration supports economic development by ensuring that only qualified and contributing foreign nationals come to Indonesia. We continue to strengthen our oversight of foreign nationals and continuously evaluate the implementation of the BVK to ensure it remains in accordance with applicable laws and regulations," explained Yuldi.

The following are 15 countries or territories whose citizens can visit Indonesia visa-free:

- Philippines

- Cambodia

- Malaysia

- Singapore

- Thailand

- Vietnam

- Timor Leste
