Simping Island is included in the South Singkawang sub-district, Singkawang City, West Kalimantan. This island is never empty of visitors. The beauty and uniqueness of this island invite many curious tourists and finally come to see it firsthand.
Moreover, the location is not too far from Singkawang city, it only takes about 20 minutes to Teluk Mak Jantuk Beach, which is the gateway to enter Simping Island.
If you take the direction from Pontianak which is 150 km to Teluk Mak Jantuk Beach, it takes about 2-3 hours to travel. The route taken is relatively good.
However, the sign marking the location of Simping Island, which is located on the left side of the road towards Singkawang City, is not enough to attract attention. So there are still many tourists who went the wrong way. From Malindo street, you still have to travel about two kilometers to reach Teluk Mak Jantuk Beach.
To reach Simping Island from Teluk Mak Jantuk Beach, a traveler must walk or use a vehicle to the west. It is located not far from the beach. There is a wooden bridge made as a link to Simping Island. The topography in this area is slightly terraced. And during the trip, the traveler will enjoy the beautiful coastal atmosphere that is very clearly visible. The large solid stones scattered on the beach provide a touch of rigidity, framed by the shade of the blue sea.
Wildflowers are yellow and purple, growing wild on the side that juts into the mainland. The visitors can enjoy the breeze of the coastal valley under the shady pine trees. The best time to visit is in the morning or afternoon while waiting for the exotic sunset here.
Simping Island was formerly called Kelapa Dua Island because there grew two coconut trees in the center of the island. But now, there are many other trees that grow in the area such as shrubs and others.
The seawater on this island is actually not so clear, but it doesn't take away the beauty of the panorama and the overall attractiveness of Simping Island. The vast expanse of the beach and the recreational park and the beauty of the surroundings always hypnotize everyone who comes. And the funny thing is, the sea around the mainland is not so deep, no wonder many tourists who come there choose to swim and play in the water.
Simping Island is included in the tourist area of Sinka Island Park Beach where in this tourist area there is also the Sinka Zoo, a zoo whose concept is like a Safari Park. Recently, Sinka Zoo as a conservation institution has received many protected animals from the West Kalimantan Natural Resources Conservation Center, before the animals are released into the wild.
