Ponot Waterfall, the Three-Story and Highest Waterfall in Indonesia

Ponot Waterfall is a waterfall located in Sampuransiarimo Hamlet, Halado Village, Pintu Pohan Meranti District, Toba Samosir Regency, North Sumatra Province.

This waterfall has a height of about 250 meters with the shape of a waterfall that does not flow directly down but has three steps. The water discharge is very heavy and has three levels, making the waterfall so thunderous. Under the outpouring of the waterfall, many were decorated with very large natural stones.

The water that fell directly onto the rock, spread a lot of splashes so that the impression was like dew which instantly made the air around the waterfall feel cool. This is also a spot area for selfies, a target for tourists, especially around the rocks.

After being satisfied playing water and swimming, another activity that is no less exciting and enjoyable is walking the road further up to enjoy the stunning scenery around. The journey that is passed is not so difficult and not steep even though it is a bit of a hike. However, the promised beauty will be the spirit to do this trekking.

The location of this hidden Ponot Waterfall is protected by a grove of green trees. This creates a stunningly scenic landscape. Not far from Ponot Waterfall, there are several small waterfalls that are also beautiful to look at.

Ponot Waterfall is located in the Ponot River which is a tributary of the Asahan River with a height of about 500 meters above sea level. To get to this place, the trip can be taken about 2-3 hours from Kisaran City, the capital of Asahan Regency through Bandar Pulau District.

Travelers can access from three places to reach the location of this waterfall. It could be from Porsea in Tobasa Regency, or from Pematang Siantar in Simalungun Regency, and it could also be from Ranto Parapat in Asahan Regency.

Meanwhile, if a traveler departs from Medan, first head to the City of Tebing Tinggi, by road it will take about 6 hours of travel.

Arriving at the Ponot Waterfall tourist area, the Traveler will be greeted with a large gate, a sign that the Traveler has arrived at the destination. However, from the gate, you still have to walk for about 500 meters to reach the edge of the waterfall.
