Plawangan Sembalun, The Best Point to Enjoy the Beauty of Rinjani and Segara Anak

Holiday Ayo - Plawangan Sembalun is one side of the caldera that surrounds the Segara Anak lake and is on the side of the village of Sembalun.
If Wonderer climbs Rinjani through the route from Sembalun village, then Plawangan Sembalun is the last post before reaching the top.
Once set foot here, Wonderer will be able to see a row of colorful tents. The climbers usually rest in Plawangan Sembalun before doing the summit attack at 2 or 3 in the morning, so they can see the sunrise at the top.
For those of you who like to ride mountains, you can visit Plawangan Sembalun which is on the slopes of Mount Rinjani. In addition to the beauty of its white edelweiss, Plawangan Sembalum is also famous for its golden sunrise.
Located at an altitude of about 2,700 meters above sea level, Plawangan Sembalun is about one kilometer from the summit of Mount Rinjani. Along the way, you can see the beauty of Edelweiss and the view from Segara Anak Lake.
In addition to the last post to the top of Rinjani, Plawangan Sembalun is also the point to go down to Segara Anak lake. So usually, after peaking, the climbers will rest here again before continuing the journey to Segara Anak.
For camping here, make sure you attach the tent pegs firmly and use an extra flysheet.
At night, the wind here is very strong. There weren't many tall trees that could withstand the wind, only sandy soil and green grass.
Plawangan Sembalun is also a source of spring. This is the reason many climbers rest here. The water is fresh and clean, you can even drink it directly. The taste is certainly fresher than bottled water.
Actually, the springs here are not the only water bodies on the hiking trail of Mount Rinjani. But the springs here are the favorites of climbers because they are much clearer, fresher, and delicious for direct consumption.
Without having to go to the top, from Plawangan Sembalun, Wonderer can already see the expanse of white clouds under your feet. It's not strange that many climbers feel at home here for a long time. From an altitude of 2700mdpl or about 1 km before the peak of Rinjani, you can see various breathtaking views.
The combination of the expanse of clouds and the green savanna on the Sembalun side to Segara Anak lake on the other side seems to spoil the eyes and soul. Of course, from here you can also see the majestic peak of Mount Rinjani. A point that is the dream of many climbers.
The best time to climb Rinjani is between April, May to early June.
At this time, the view from Plawangan Sembalun is maximal. If the dry season has entered, the savanna will become dry and yellow, the air is drier and colder. Meanwhile, during the rainy season, of course, it will be difficult to climb because the path becomes wet and there are not many tall trees that can protect it from rain, especially if climbing through the Sembalun route.
Mount Rinjani can be climbed via the Sembalun, Senaru, Timbanuh and Aiberik routes.
Currently, to climb Rinjani, you must make an online booking through the e-Rinjani application. The quota of climbers on each route is limited to between 30-45 people per lane.
