Kidal Temple

Holiday Ayo - Kidal Temple is located in Rejo Kidal village, Tumpang district, about 24 km away to the East from Malang city.

The real height of the temple is 17 meters, but now it's just 12,4 meters.

Kidal temple is one of Malang's historical temple that save history value.

The temple base has a shape square. The door is one in west side.

Above the door of the temple, there are "Kepala Kala" (Head of Giants) and lions. The temple was decorated using ornaments, which depict Mahabharata story not in sequence.

The temple was built to worship the Singhasari King named Anusapati. This temple also tells a Hindu mythology, Garudeya. Where it tells about the liberation of slavery

There is a relief in the form of an ( Garuda ) eagle bird, which is now in use as the symbol of the state Indonesia

Kidal Temple was built by Wisnuwardhana or Ranggawuni in 1248 AD. Where the construction of Kidal temple is intended to honor Anusapati. And made Anusapati worshiped as the god, Shiva.

Enter the temple room there is a room in use for prayer also to put the statue. But now these statues are brought to Dutch Museum

The story that is taken from the temple is Anusapati very devoted to his mother who always lived in misery. In the Javanese belief, the purification of man (ruwatan) functions in order that the king of the king returns holy and becomes a god.
