Jolotundo Temple in Mojokerto

Holiday Ayo - Jolotundo Temple was built by Udayana, the king of the Predecessor Kingdom of the Warmadewa dynasty, Bali.
In past, King Udayana married a daughter of the Isyana Dynasty from the Medang Kingdom named Princess Gunapriya Dharmapatni.
In 991 AD, King Udayana and Princess Gunapriya Dharmapatni had a child named Airlangga.
Jolotundo Temple is a form of King Udayana's love in welcoming Airlangga's birth. So in 997 AD, King Udayana built the Jolotundo Temple. However, there are other sources that state that Jolotundo Temple was the hermitage of Airlangga after he resigned from the throne of the Kahuripan Kingdom and was replaced by his son.
On the night of one Suro or one Muharram when the full moon shines, many people visit Jolotundo Temple, especially the Balinese. They come to carry out rituals with the aim of taking blessings, purifying themselves, and even bathing their heirlooms.
Jolotundo Temple is one of the temples in East Java and one of the temples in Mojokerto, precisely in Balekambang Hamlet, Seloliman Village, Trawas District.
The location of the temple can be reached approximately 55 kilometers from the city of Surabaya. The access road to the temple can be reached via Trawas by combing the slopes of Mount Penanggungan with a fairly winding terrain. Jolotundo Temple can also be reached via Ngoro Industrial Park with road access followed by passing through residential villages.
Geographically, Jolutundo Temple is located at an altitude of approximately 800 meters above sea level (masl) and is located on the Bekel hill, the western slope of Mount Penanggungan.
There, tourists are rewarded with green natural scenery and cool mountain air. The price of admission is IDR 10,000 for adults and IDR 7,500 for children.
