And most of them are managed by professional companies. Indonesia itself is well-known as one of the countries with the largest coal mining producer from many years ago. It’s recorded that Indonesia has more than 20 provinces that have the largest coal mines in Indonesia.

1. Sangatta, East Kalimantan

Sangatta has more than 90,000 hectares of coal mines that manage by some companies.
From 1982 up to 2003, Sangatta mine coals manage by the PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC). Later, it was reported that PT Bumi Resources Tbk (BUMI) was taking over 100% of the mine coals. But, for so many reasons, later the mine coals manage by BUMI with about 51% ownership in KPC.

Up until today, KPC still becomes the biggest company that produces the biggest mine coals as one of the Indonesian export and sell to the local companies in Indonesia. That makes Sangatta has more facility household such as schools, hospitals, entertainment places, and other public facilities as well.

2. Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra

It claimes that the company could produce more than 400 tons of coal mines daily.

3. Laut Island, South Kalimantan

5. Berau, East Kalimantan
Berau becomes one of the regencies with the largest coal mines in Indonesia. It is located in East Kalimantan, where most of the coal mines area is managed under PT Berau Coal. The specific coal mines are located around Sambaliung, Berau, East Kalimantan.
From time to time, the area of Berau is so popular with the biggest area that produces coal mines. The company is capable to produce more than 30 million tons of coal mines with the coal mines area that covers more than 108.000 hectares.
