Holiday Ayo -   Aek Martua Waterfall has indeed become one of the leading tourist attractions in the Riau area. This waterfall has its own uniqueness and privilege, which has three levels. Each level has a different size and height. 

The height ranges from 15 meters to the highest reaches 40 meters. With this uniqueness and privilege, many tourists dubbed Aek Martua Waterfall as the Thousand Ladder Waterfall. 

You can play water at the location of the first waterfall which has a fairly wide expanse of rock, while the second waterfall has a 250-meter pool for bathing. The third waterfall has a height of about 40 meters. You must have rock climbing skills to get to the highest waterfall.

History

The name of Aek Martua itself is taken from the regional language of one of the tribes in Riau, namely the Mandailing Batak, which means 'lucky water'. It is a little strange because the language used is not the language of the majority ethnic group in Riau, namely the Malay tribe. 

But all of this is not surprising, because the majority of the people who live near the waterfall are Mandailing Bataks. So do not be surprised if the name Aek Martua is taken using the language of the Mandailing Batak tribe

This waterfall is located in Huta Padang Hamlet, Bangun Purba District, Rokan Hulu, Riau Province.

How to Get There

For those of you who want to enjoy the beauty of this waterfall, you can reach the location using public transportation from Pekanbaru - Pengaraian at a cost of IDR 35,000. 

You can get off at Simpang Tangun, then the journey continues to Tangun using an oplet or omprengan at a cost of IDR 5,000. 

Arriving at the location, visitors do not immediately enjoy the beauty of this waterfall. Because upon arrival at the entrance of this tourist attraction you have to continue the journey on foot through a suspension bridge and a walkway for approximately 3.5 kilometers.

After passing the path, you can continue the journey as far as 3 km through the protected forest. This trip is very draining because you have to go through quite steep inclines and descents. So in addition to being physically prepared, caution and vigilance must also be maintained so as not to slip or something unwanted happens. 

However, the trip will be a little lighter because during the trip to the tourist location the visitors will be accompanied by very beautiful and soothing natural scenery. 

After a journey of approximately 30 minutes, visitors will arrive at the location of Aek Martua Waterfall.
