1. Joglo House

The Joglo house is one of the most popular types of traditional Central Java houses. The characteristic of this traditional house is that it has four supporting poles in the front. There are two rooms in the Joglo House that are commonly used, namely the main and additional houses.

In the main house there are several rooms such as Pringgitan, Pendopo, Emperan, Senthong Kiwa, Senthong Tengah, and Senthong Sengen. While in the additional house, there is a room called Gandhok.

2. Panggang Pe House

Linguistically, Panggang Pe House consists of two words, namely 'baked' and 'ape' which means drying. This is because, in the past, the traditional house of Panggang Pe was used as a place to dry agricultural commodities such as cassava and tea leaves.

The shape of the Panggang Pe house looks simpler than other Central Javanese traditional houses. This house is dominated by pillars rather than walls. Uniquely, the back side of the house is made longer. Because, the back side of the house is higher than the other side.

3. Limasan House

As the name implies, the Limasan traditional house has a pyramid-shaped roof. At first glance, the roof is similar to traditional houses in South Sumatra. In addition, the Limasan house building is also not walled or painted, but built using only red bricks.

4. Tajug House

This Central Javanese traditional house is quite special, because it cannot be built by just anyone. Because, Tajug House is generally used as a place of worship. One popular example is the Great Mosque of Demak.

The roof of the tajug house is in the form of a terraced square. Each end is decorated with a small dome. This type of Central Javanese traditional house also consists of several types such as Semar Tinandu, Mangkurat, Semar Sinongsong, and Lambang Sari.

5. Kampung House

The kampung house is the residence of farmers, market workers, and ordinary people. In this house there are several rooms such as the living room, bedroom, and kitchen. Uniquely, Kampung House has a multiple of four supporting poles with a minimum of eight poles.
