In fighting for Indonesian independence, Ir Sukarno or Bung Karno faced many challenges that were not easy to overcome. Many times, he was exiled to several locations from Flores to Bengkulu.
While exiled in Bengkulu, Bung Karno lived in a house that was originally the residence of a staple food businessman for the Dutch colonial government, Tan Eng Cian, on Soekarno-Hatta Street, Anggut Atas Village, Ratu Samban District, Bengkulu City, Bengkulu Province.
Bung Karno lived in the house from 1938 to 1942. There, he carried out various activities ranging from politics to the arts.
If you visit here, only by paying an entrance ticket of IDR 5,000, you can see several objects, both imitations and originals, the historical remains of Bung Karno. Interestingly, at the back of the house, there is a well which is said to be believed by the local people to keep young anyone who washes their face there.
2. Fatmawati's house

Not far from Bung Karno's exile house, there is Fatmawati's residence. This house is located on Fatmawati Street, Decrease Village, Ratu Samban District, Bengkulu City, Bengkulu Province.
Although rebuilt, the house still maintains its original construction as a stilt house. The original furniture left by Fatmawati is still preserved in the house.
Without paying an entrance ticket, you can enter the house and see various relics including the tools Fatmawati used when sewing the Red and White Flag. Apart from that, in that house you can also see photos of Fatmawati with Bung Karno.
3. Fort Marlborough

Fort Marlborough or Fort Marlborough is a British heritage fort built in 1714-1719. This fort is located on the edge of Tapak Paderi Beach.
When visiting Fort Marlborough, you will only be charged an entrance ticket of IDR 5,000. There, you can see 72 cannons as well as several buildings that used to function as offices, barracks, and prisons.
One of the highlights of Fort Marlborough is the story that tells of a prisoner writing sad stories on the walls using his blood until he died.
Within the Fort Marlborough building complex there are also the tombs of Deputy Governor Richard Watts and Resident Thomas Parr. Apart from that, there is also a diorama of Bung Karno in dialogue with Resident CE Maier.
