Jules Rimet is one of the presidents of FIFA. It is noted that he is the longest serving FIFA president in history. The name of this trophy is taken from the name Jules Rimet as a form of respect for him.
Initially, the World Cup trophy was named Victory and was usually called the Coupe du Monde (French for the World Cup). The name of this trophy was changed to the Jules Rimet Trophy in 1946.
