Ahead of Meeting with Netanyahu, Trump Promises Something Special for Gaza

Holiday Ayo - US President Donald Trump promised a major breakthrough regarding the nearly two-year-old Gaza war.

He even posted an optimistic message on his Truth Social account on Sunday (September 28th), stating, "EVERYTHING IS GETTING READY FOR SOMETHING SPECIAL, FOR THE FIRST TIME. WE WILL GET IT DONE!!!"

However, Trump did not elaborate on what he was referring to in his post.

This statement comes ahead of Trump's crucial meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Monday (September 29th), which is expected to be a defining moment for Gaza peace efforts.

Agreement Claimed Nearly Completed: Trump claimed a peace deal was "almost complete" after a series of talks with Arab leaders last week.

The agreement reportedly contains 21 points, including the release of all hostages still held by Hamas, Hamas disarmament, and a complete ceasefire.

Trump's optimism contrasts sharply with Netanyahu's stance. In his speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Netanyahu reiterated his commitment to "finishing the job" against Hamas.

He also rejected the idea of establishing a Palestinian state, even though several Western countries had recently recognized Palestinian sovereignty.

Netanyahu even rejected the proposal that the Palestinian Authority (PA) return to govern Gaza after Hamas was dismantled.

"I think the chances of a reformed PA that truly accepts the Jewish state are very slim. They are still training their young generation to hate us," he said in an interview with Fox News.

Meanwhile, several media reports have named former British Prime Minister Tony Blair as a potential leader of an international transitional authority for Gaza.

The US-backed plan would involve the UN and Gulf states, before eventually handing over to a reformed PA.

However, Netanyahu's rejection of PA involvement poses a major challenge to this plan.

According to Natan Sachs, a senior fellow at the Middle East Institute, Trump's path will not be easy.

"Netanyahu clearly prefers to continue the war and eliminate Hamas. But that doesn't mean Trump can't persuade him. It just requires significant pressure and a clear strategy," he said.

Trump himself has recently begun to show frustration with Israel's moves, including stern warnings against Netanyahu annexing the West Bank and criticism of Israel's attacks on Hamas in Qatar, a close US ally.
