5 of Unique Tradition that Only Find in Indonesia

1. Tatung Singkawang
This one tradition can be found in the Singkawang area, West Kalimantan. Where this tradition is carried out by hundreds of people to enliven the Cap Go Meh event. Tatung means god spirit from the Hakka language.
To maintain the magic of the tatung players, they are required to perform several rituals. One of them is fasting from eating meat on the first and 15th of every month in the Chinese calendar.
2. Omed-omedan
Omed-omedan is a youth tradition of Banjar Kaja, Pakraman Sesetan Village, Denpasar, in welcoming the turn of the Caka New Year. This event has been carried out since the 18th century. This tradition is carried out by way of tug of war, which can only be done by new members entering college and not yet married.
3. Kebo-keboan
This tradition is held once a year on 10 Suro or 10 Muharam in Alasmalang village, Singojuruh, Banyuwangi. This ceremony requires several men to dress up as buffalo and make sacrifices to plow the fields. After plowing the fields, these kebos are paraded around the village accompanied by a folk art carnival. This kebo-keboan ritual purpose to ask for rain during the dry season.
4. Seba
Next is the tradition carried out by the Baduy Tribe, where the Baduy Tribe is known as a tribe that shuts itself off from the outside world and still maintains the local wisdom of their ancestors in this modern era.
The Seba tradition is carried out by the Baduy Tribe by giving the harvest to Mrs. Gede and Mr. Gede who are located in the city of Serang. What is meant by "Mrs. Gede and Mr. Gede" are the Regent of Lebak and the Governor of Banten. Where the Baduy people walk 100 kilometers to get out of the village to the capital city. This Seba tradition is carried out by the Baduy Tribe to maintain brotherhood and a form of expression of gratitude to the local government like a tribute given to the kingdom.
5. Mekare-kare
The last tradition comes from the island of Bali which is carried out by the men in the village of Tenganan Pegringsingan as an offering to Lord Indra. In this tradition, the men of the village will perform a show of war using thorny pandan leaves as weapons and rattan shields to ward off enemy attacks. After performing this ritual, all participants in Mekare-kare will sit and eat food together while their wounds are treated.
