2. La Romana

La Romana is the home of Altos de Chavon on the southeast coast of the Dominican Republic. La Romana is a replica of a craftsman's village in the 16th century as well as being the best and favorite place to shop for various crafts, an archaeological museum and an amphitheater. This building was founded in 1979 but opened in 1982, designed by Italian architect Roberto Copa.

This place will really pamper tourists with an interesting spot with a mix of Mediterranean and European styles. 3. Samana Peninsula and Samana Bay

Samana Bay has many small islands scattered around, beaches surrounded by palm trees, and is also a paradise for marine animals. One of the interesting things is that there are humpback whales that can breed every January and February. On the bay peninsula there is Parque Nacional Los Haises, which is an island covered by forest, quite dense mangrove forests and beautiful, transparent waters. There are also Mogotes, a unique rock formation that rises from the sea, a cave filled with birds, the Salto El Limon waterfall, and Playa Rinco. You can also try several activities such as hiking, horse riding, cycling and birding.

4. Basilica de Nuestro Senora de la Algatracia

The Basilica of Our Lady or Basilica de Nuestro Senora de la Algatracia is an area with the best religious architecture in Latin America. This place is also a leading pilgrimage center in Latin America. Every year on January 21, many pilgrims from all over the country come to attend Mass at the Church.

5. Lago Enriquillo

Lake Enriquillo or Lago Enriquillo is the lake with the lowest point and the largest salt water in the Antilles. Many flamingos and iguanas are found in abundance in this place. There is also an island right in the middle of Lake Enriquillo called Parque Nacional Isla Cabritos. The island is also a park and home to more than 16 species of flora and 62 species of birds such as the white dove and the Hispaniolan parrot.
