Holiday Ayo - Jakarta Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) management revealed that it had found cultural heritage in the process of building Jakarta MRT phase 2 from the HI-Ancol roundabout. The objects of ancient cultural heritage are planned to be exhibited at City Station.

As cited from finance.detik.com, Jakarta MRT Construction Director, Silvia Halim, the findings are currently being secured. His party will carry out the dismantling and removal of parts by part to later be exhibited to the public. According to him, this archaeological discovery must be secured first before the Jakarta MRT project can be continued.

"We take brick by brick one by one, we keep it so that in the future we plan to display it so that we can educate all of the public," said Silvia, Tuesday (20/9) yesterday.

In his presentation, it was explained that on July 30, 2022, Jakarta MRT together with the Department of Culture, the Cultural Conservation Expert Team (TACB) and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government Restoration Session Team (TSP) have agreed to carry out a good documentation process.

Documentation is done by lifting parts of the findings. Some of them will be exhibited in a small museum that will be built around the Old Town area, precisely on the connecting road that will be built between the KRL Station and the Old Town MRT Station.

So far, his party has opened a small gallery that accommodates the findings of historical treasures in the Jakarta MRT Project at the corner of Kota Station.

"The plan is that at City Station there will be a gallery like a museum, we plan to install it in the Beos area. We will build a grand plaza entrance that connects Beos with the City Station with the MRT Station and under the conditions there is an underground line, right? We will place the display area into a gallery or museum," said Silvia.

Since the majority of the found waterways are in the form of bricks, Silvia also stated that there are talks to recycle some of the treasure found materials to be installed in the construction of the Jakarta MRT.

"We have discussions, recycling, some of these bricks in good condition, we will reuse some parts for construction in the station," said Silvia.

According to him, some of the materials found will be an additional unique accent on the architecture of the Old Town Jakarta MRT Station later.
